⩕ What is 706?

706 is a horror panfandom rp that is (very) loosely based off Weaver’s interactive story called Ruby Quest. Character’s wake up in a town simply known as “Rosemary Division” and are forced to endure whatever horrors come their way. Events range from the psychological, reality breaking and body horror. Due to these themes the game is rated 18+. (We will note that while many of the events have themes of horror and trauma, no mod plot will incorporate sexual abuse.)

⩕ How did our characters get here?

No one is sure, although the answers will be available with time. Your character will wake up laying in a locker in a room, wearing white scrubs and navy blue slip ons. They will be let out of the room when the voice makes an announcement that Day One has begun. Your characters will not remember anything about themselves when they first arrive, however their memories will slowly trickle back based at player’s discretion. When characters arrive they will find that they have a number tattooed on the back of their necks. Each number starts with 7. When your character is accepted they will be assigned an official number.

⩕ Do characters still have their powers?

No, they do not. All powers will be mysteriously absent. If the power is directly related to your character’s body or life force they might find that they feel very tired all the time and might experience chronic pain.

⩕ Does my non-human character have to be humanized?

Under certain circumstances. If they have an organic body they can come in any shape or form, however, androids and ghosts will have to be humanized. They will be given a body that looks eerily similar to their original appearance but certain things will be off about it, such as having bad vision or missing a finger. It will become increasingly clear that the body given to them was once a living person’s body and not a lab grown shell. They have just been implanted.

Characters such as vampires or people with wings/unusual appendages will still retain their body parts but they will be useless and not function properly.

⩕ Is there a network?

The future is here and the future is wrist walkie-talkies.

Your character will not start with a walkie but will be able to find them in rooms around town amongst what looks to be personal artifacts of people long gone. They are adjusted to strange dead air frequencies but with enough tinkering they can be linked to other character’s walkies. Oddly enough they seem to work wherever your character journeys to in the town, even under strong concrete and panic rooms.

This means that all network activity is done as audio and real time. A general broadcast can be sent out or you can page a character’s walkies ID for a direct conversation. You can create your own frequency ID for your character which should look something like SG4563v20.

If your character breaks their walkie then they will have to find another one.

An exception to this rule is NPCs who will occasionally use the computer monitors sprinkled around inside buildings to record themselves on screen. This will happen during mod events. It might be possible to figure out how to hack in to one.

⩕ What is the day ratio/ What is Day One?

1:1 real time. This is particularly important as every first of the month the “counter” of Day One starts over. The first 7s won’t realize it but they are on a timer and it will Restart every month on the first. New characters will wake up on the first in their lockers, and so will all the characters that have been there before them.

⩕ What happens with the Restart?

Your characters will wake up in their original starting room, in their original lockers. Any injuries or physical trauma they sustained will be healed. They will have to stay in the room until they hear the announcement of the beginning of Day One and the door opens. But something strange will have happened. All progress your character has made; destruction, graffiti, unlocked doors, found items will still be where they left it, however everything will be slightly different. As if it had all been reset and someone woke up before your character and redid all the work that your character initial achieved. Not reassuring, but useful. Be careful, as things have shifted, and once friendly familiar rooms might have a new door, a new item, or something new lurking in them. Character’s might theroize on whether this is part of an experiment or if reality itself is getting a reboot.

⩕ What happens if my character dies or is injured?

If a character dies they will wake up in their locker 24 hours from the incident, with a splitting headache, a bleeding nose and no memories of the past 24 hours. If they are injured they will stay injured until the next Restart or when they die. It is possible to find medical items scattered around the facility and town although they are not reliable.

⩕ Who are the NPCs?

A very cagey and unbalanced bunch. They don’t seem so much reluctant to give information as they seem to be too lost in their own heads to truly comprehend the situation. They often talk as if they’ve mistaken your character for someone else or reference things that are yet to happen, etc. They give off the impression that they could turn violent and dangerous at any given moment.
ELIA
#701

a younger woman, in her 30s who seems to have an abundance of energy and ideas. She speaks very fast and is a little manic. Unhelpful.

DOC
#702

an older man in his mid 50s who seems interested in how everything works. If you can get him interested enough in a project he will most likely tear it apart and build something new. Occasionally helpful.

JERMAINE
#703

20-something who seems to be shy but very adamant about doing things the “right” way. Is known to explain things a little better than the others but gets quickly frustrated if he isn’t understood right away. Occasionally helpful.

Q
#704

a hulking creature that has no discernible gender. It seems to be mindless and possibly rabid. It will kill and eat anyone it comes in contact with. All the others are very frightened of It. Do not approach.

MARTHA
#705

Completely mute but always smiling. She will draw and write things on the walls. If your character leaves her fun and thoughtful graffiti messages she might return the favour in items. Helpful as it gets. You can get her attention here.

One or two of the NPC will be around during mod events.

⩕ Tell us about Activity?

10 comments a month from your character and the activity check will be from the first to the fifth of each month. All activity time stamps must be from the month prior. Comment combos/spams will count as one comment.

⩕ Is there an activity reward system?

Not currently, as we feel that item regains would break the environment and tone of the game and location exploration and plot information is tied to the general metaplot. If players have suggestions for other rewards we are more than willing to take them into consideration!

⩕ Which characters are appable?

Currently only canon and original characters are accepted. Characters from all media is acceptable provided that there is enough canon history and they are not a biographical character. A new piece of media must be out for 2 months before considered appable.

⩕ Is there housing/Where does my character stay?

There is no official housing or rooms. Your character is completely left to their own devices and creativity. Teaming up with someone and taking watches as your character snoozes in an abandoned room or shack might be the best course of action. As things shift and move with every Restart it might be too eerie to try and claim any single lodging as a permanent residence.

⩕ When/what are mod events?

Mod plots will run on the 23rd of each month. The mod events are meant to advance the meta plot as well as provide some sort of conflict amongst the characters and their environment.

There will occasionally be “mini” events where a NPC might appear to out of the blue in form of network post.

⩕ What stuff can my character find/how do they explore?

For exploration, on the 1st of the month a log will go up showcasing the new area that a character can potentially unlock. There will be a description of the room, list of significant items and a tracker of points of interest in each area that you character can notice and interact with. A mod top level will go up and characters can claim the items in the rooms, and initiate requests for interaction.

In terms of items that you can expect to find, there can be pretty much anything lying around: string, heating pads, books, measuring cups, anything that might be helpful you can have your character collect. Various items can be found in storage lockers and closets that look like they might have belong to someone who lived or frequented the town. Keep in mind that they only have two pockets in their scrubs to store stuff until they find something to carry it in! Mundane items such as these plus walkie-talkies do not need mod permission to obtain.

⩕ Is there a player and cast cap?

There are 30 player spots available in game. Each player can app up to two characters. 3 characters per cast.

⩕ A Quick and Dirty Important Miscellaneous In-game Facts Section:

⩕ There is no apparent months or dates or time available to your character, except for the Restart documenting the start of a new cycle of whatever that may be. IC the Restart may not be happening on the first of the month, it is just set up that way OOC for convenience of the players.

⩕ There is a fifty foot wall surrounding the town. There is a weird hum coming from somewhere beyond it.

⩕ There are pipes running along most of the buildings.

⩕ There’s a distinctly salty taste in the air and a permanent thick fog hanging above the wall. Maybe you’re near an ocean?

⩕ Technology seems to be old and dated. The computers are DOS run, the walkie-talkies are clunky, buttons have a distinctly arcade game feel to them.

⩕ Every corner of the town has liminal space feel.

⩕ There are clothes laying around town so your character is not stuck with scrubs forever. It will probably take some time to find items that fit and they might be dirty with the occasional large crusty patch of dried blood.
